Childcare campaigners spell out message with larger-than-life children's blocks

Yesterday morning campaigners went to the Department For Education with larger-than-life children’s building blocks because clearly, we need to spell it out for the Government. We need Childcare For All Now! Watch the video and get involved.

Thousands of families, many working and paying taxes, are locked out of childcare simply because of the fine print on their visas. With parents locked out, families are pushed into poverty and children start school well behind their peers. That’s why we’re calling on the Government to open childcare support to all families, no matter their immigration status. More support with the costs of childcare will mean parents are enabled provide for their families, children get a fair start in life and whole families can be protected from poverty.

Last year we sent a letter signed by 20 other organisations to the Department for Education asking for a meeting. We were told that the Minister for Children, David Johnston, didn’t have time to meet with us. Action Group Campaigner Esther then asked again and hundreds of people shared our message on social media to David Johnston. On top of that, almost 17,000 people have signed the petition for #ChildcareForAll. But we’ve heard nothing.

That’s why today we put our message somewhere they couldn’t miss.
