On 2nd May Brighter Futures, a group of young migrants fighting for change, launched Brighter Zine. A beautiful zine packed full of hope and joy!

We, Brighter Futures, are a group of young people who have migrated to the UK and who come together, build a family in London and speak up for the rights of young people like us. On 20th June 2023, we launched our manifesto for a fairer housing future for young people who have migrated to the UK, with an evening of poetry, art and powerful conversations. 

Exactly one year ago, the inspiring members of our youth group Brighter Futures hosted ‘Challenging the Narrative’, an amazing event where they used poetry, art installations and panel discussions to challenge the narrow rhetoric on young migrants.

Using creativity as a tool to challenge negative perception of migrants in the UK, this collection is the summation of a series of workshops focussing on the impact of COVID19 on the world from a young migrants’ perspective, and how the world needs to change for the better.

Ruby, a member of Brighter Futures, spoke up on BBC 1XTRA TALKS to shed a light on what it’s like to live in the UK as a young undocumented migrants.

We decided to host Words Apart, a public event to challenge the narrow rhetoric on us young migrants, to make sure that as many people as possible could understand our situation, and hear from our own voices that we are phenomenal.
